ACAD has always championed the best practice approach for the Asbestos Industry, and our consistent and long-term promotion of NVQ standards for site teams is just one aspect of this.
ACAD Assessors (& Auditors) are so often impressed by the high quality demonstrated by site supervisors, be it in the sites they run, their professional approach or even relating to their personal achievements outside of the working environment.
To recognise these outstanding performances and achievements, ACAD is excited to be launching our Supervisor of the Year Awards, proudly sponsored by the IATP, to recognise those individuals who go above and beyond.
Graham Warren, ACAD Manager commented “The first set of awards will be presented at the forthcoming ACAD Golf Day & Awards Dinner, alongside the site audit awards that recognise best practice within the Asbestos industry, and the award for the SAP learner of the year, which has recognised individuals since the launch of the CITB funded Specialist Apprenticeship Programme by ACAD in 2015”.
Given the sheer range of positivity we get to hear about from ACADs growing membership base, we are deliberately keeping the criteria for nominees as wide as possible so as not to exclude anybody’s achievement. Some examples that would be considered include:
- They act as a mentor within their business, supporting the development of more junior staff and ensuring they maximise their potential
- Outside of work they support their local community, running a food bank, coaching a junior football team, or even just regularly picking litter around their local area
- Or maybe they just run the absolute best site no matter the project
To ensure all nominations are rated objectively, anonymised submissions will be judged by a cross section of leading industry figures from ACAD and the IATP, with special guest judge Mavis Nye who will also be joining us on the evening for the awards presentation in June.
IATP Director, Wayne WIlliams told us “The IATP are very pleased to be involved in the promotion and sponsorship of the Supervisor of the Year Award. We believe this is a great initiative that ACAD have introduced and will aid immensely in promoting best practice, raising industry standards and encouraging those in the industry to excel in their personal and professional development”.
Shortlisted entries will be announced during April and May, and the deadline for nominations is 5pm on Tuesday 9th May 2023. The winner will be announced during the ACAD Golf Day & Awards Dinner at Hellidon Lakes, Daventry on Thursday 8th June.
