TICA is preparing to launch TICA Assured, a new independent certification body created to deliver UKAS-accredited audits for thermal insulation contractors. The new Thermal Assured (standard) accredited by the new certification body will provide clear, objective proof of technical capability and raise the level of assurance available across the sector.
A robust new standard for the industry
To underpin this work, TICA has developed the TICA Standard, a draft technical standard that sets out the business and on-site installation criteria contractors must meet to demonstrate capability. It covers both organisational requirements and detailed technical expectations for thermal insulation installation across a range of environments and use cases.
This standard will form the basis of the Thermal Assured scheme, ensuring all assessments are carried out consistently and in line with recognised good practice.
About TICA Assured
TICA Assured is a wholly owned subsidiary of TICA, incorporated to deliver certification services independently from TICA. This structure gives the scheme the credibility and governance required to progress toward formal UKAS accreditation under ISO 17065.
Through this framework, Thermal Assured will offer:
- Independent, objective on-site audits
- Verification of technical skill and installation quality
- Assessment of key business practices, including valid skill cards for all operatives
- A consistent, recognised standard for demonstrating competence
This strengthens and formalises the checks already in place for TICA members, providing clear evidence of capability to clients and principal contractors.
What members can expect
Once launched, the Thermal Assured scheme will certify the technical and organisational capability of thermal insulation contractors. It will offer an enhanced level of assurance across projects by verifying real, on-site performance and ensuring compliance with the TICA Standard.
