TICA Accreditation

TICA has developed 2 additional routes to verify competency when applying for a TICA Skill Card. These additional routes have been specifically designed for longstanding, experienced thermal insulators, who, for whatever reason, have not had the opportunity to complete either a TICA apprenticeship or another formal thermal insulation qualification, required to obtain a TICA Skill Card.

There is a strict eligibility for registration on these qualifications as follows:

  • Verifiable proof of a minimum of 20 years continuous experience working as a thermal insulator that commenced prior to 1998
  • All applicants must provide evidence of their experience of installing a variety of insulation materials, coverings (which must include metal cladding) and specifications
  • Level 3 applicants must also provide evidence of their metal fabrication experience.

The information provided by candidates as part of the application process will be robustly scrutinised and references will be requested and interrogated thoroughly.

Completion Certificates will be awarded by IETTL following both internal and external verification of the assessment evidence. Evidence will be collected as part of the accreditation process which will include a Practical Skills Assessment.

The 2 day Practical Skills Assessment is held in Darlington at the National Training Centre and can be arranged by downloading, completing and returning this form.

If a candidate fails to achieve the required level of practical competency they will be provided with details of the current providers of the L2 NVQ qualification.

Following completion of the L2 NVQ the candidate will have to successfully complete the 2 day Practical Skills Assesment.
