The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA) has recognised dedication and technical excellence at its annual Apprentice of the Year Awards.
The winners were revealed during its 67th annual lunch held at London’s OXO Tower Restauraunt, Bar and Brasserie when Joseph Munday, an apprentice with Crawley Insulations, based in Ashford, Kent, won the Level 2 award, while Sam Morris of Altrad, Heysham picked up the Level 3 award.
Runners-up in the Level 2 section were Cameron Fraser, an apprentice with Altrad UK, Ireland & Nordics in Aberdeenshire, and Kieran Todd, from Glasgow-based Darroch Insulation Services.
The Level 3 finalists were Leon Crump of Kaefer, based in the Vale of Glamorgan, and Albert Tindling of Essex-based Energy Environmental Services Limited.
The prestigious awards are designed to celebrate and reward the exceptional apprentices who attend TICA’s National Training Centre in Darlington, where they undertake intensive two-week training blocks, followed by two to three months of practical, on-the-job learning with their respective employers.
The Level 2 apprenticeship equips learners with the essential skills to excel in thermal insulation, while the Level 3 programme offers progression for those who have successfully completed Level 2, or for experienced professionals seeking to enhance their qualifications in fabrication and supervisory roles.
Marion Marsland, Chief Executive Officer of TICA, commented: “These awards are a fantastic opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding talent within our industry. Our apprentices have shown remarkable dedication, resilience, and passion, and they represent the future of thermal insulation. Their achievements will not only benefit their careers but will also help drive the industry forward with innovation and excellence.”
