TICA is seeking to appoint a Technical Services Manager to represent and work within sector forums and to support our growing membership.
This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with a competitive salary.
The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA) is the sole trade body representing thermal insulation contractors in the UK. We represent insulation contractors specialising in mechanical services, pipework, ductwork and storage vessels. Our members will typically be deploying specialist teams of operatives across engineering construction – petrochemical, power generation, oil & gas, as well as commercial construction and UK infrastructure projects.
Based in Darlington, in the North East of England, TICA operates from our National Training Centre where all of our sector apprentices from across the UK come to receive practical training as part of our industry approved apprenticeship programme.
TICA is recognised as the Sector Skills Council and Standards Setting Body, in addition to managing our sector specific Skill Card which is a partner card scheme of CSCS.
We seek to appoint a Technical Services Manager, reporting to the Chief Executive, who will represent our sector organisation in relevant industry groups for example BSI, reviewing thermal standards in addition to working with wider construction federations and partner trade body technical groups.
This is a newly created position and reflects the growing membership within our organisation and our aspirations to provide greater representation for our sector. The Technical Services Manager will provide regular on-line webinars and training sessions covering all insulation and construction technical related matters to inform and educate the contracting membership base. In addition, the organisation is looking to provide more independent in-house technical support to thermal insulation contractor members by providing advice and guidance on a one to one basis to assist with specifications, applications and thermal calculations.
As our sector moves with the whole of construction towards more formal on-going competency of operatives, the Technical Services Manager will play a key role as part of the TICA strategic development of our own sector competency scheme, understanding our members operations and working closely to help overcome barriers and obstacles of implementation to the scheme.
Suitable candidates will have an in-built ability to take on board technical information from across the sector, identifying opportunities to develop our own sector and provide our own members informative, concise and relevant material .

- A confident and articulate communicator
- Excellent attention to detail
