I have really enjoyed my time during my apprenticeship and at the TICA National Training Centre. The Level 3 course that I attended over the past couple of years is a very in-depth and structured course and is perfect for anyone looking to secure a future in the Thermal Insulation industry.
The knowledge and teaching techniques the assessors used are second to none. They give you all of the theoretical and practical training you need to build up your skill level in the application of insulation materials and their properties. During the course you learn the different types of finish and the environment they best suit, fabrication of sheet metal finishes and how to apply them to industry standards.
The workshops at TICA have extensive equipment that enables you to develop your fabrication skill to a high level. The Training Centre is very well organised and provides a safe working environment in which to learn.
The End Point Assessment was also very well structured and planned out. The environment they create on the days of your EPA is not one of nervousness but calm and organised, you do actually end up enjoying the assessments as it gives you the chance to put your newly gained skills and knowledge to the test.
For anyone looking to become an apprentice I would highly recommend becoming a Thermal Insulation Technician or Operative, I’ve loved every minute so far. Thank you again to all the staff at TICA and my supportive work colleagues at Altrad (Drax).
Paul Allen, TICA Training Office commented “Ashley was a joy to deal with from day one. His drive and determination to progress and complete his training was refreshing, and not something we come across every day. The support of his current employer, his manager Chris and all team at Drax was also a major factor in his rapid development. The time he was afforded and the instruction he received, away from college, is an example to all employers and something we as a training provider feel is essential in moving the trade forward. Well done Ashley and good luck for the future”.
