ACAD Regional Meetings

The Summer ACAD regionals have drawn to a close after a productive few weeks which involved Graham Warren meeting with a growing number of Licence holders from right across the UK.

Whilst the agenda remains the same in each region, every meeting offers its own dynamic thanks to the sheer variety of passionate industry professionals who attend ACAD regionals.

Graham Warren advised “The interactive ACAD regionals are like nothing else within the Licensed Asbestos industry, ACAD regionals are as much for my benefit as they are for members, which is why I encourage everybody to get involved in the lively discussions that effectively delivers CPD within the Licensed Asbestos Industry”.

Topics are always varied, and this time round they included personal monitoring, HSE inspection focus and soffit projects.  The main topic though was once again construction welfare standards as the industry starts to embed the raised expectations detailed in the recent HSE internal operational guidance.  ACADs promotion of single occupancy DCUs stems from delivering the best practice solution to welfare and is also something that the Female Analyst Working Group (FAWG) endorses.  And ACAD was only too pleased to welcome representatives from the FAWG to a cross section of ACAD regionals once again.

Graham Warren commented “It was really important to hear from the Female Analyst Working Group as Colette Willoughby, Cat Holmes, Joanna Parker and Justine Ivory joined us in Essex, Manchester, Kegworth and Southampton respectfully this time round”.

“Amongst the detailed updated around all the work the group are focussing on, a couple of elements stuck out for me including the welcome work on developing training for supervisors and analysts around the clearance process, and also the statistics on failure rates for 4SC – 1,883 failures from 32,146 – which gives Licence Holders a useful industry benchmark rate of 5.9%”.

ACAD regionals will be back in the Autumn, look out for our updates in the coming weeks where we release the dates for these.
