The Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA) is strengthening its leadership team to reflect its growing remit across membership, training, assessment and industry standards.

From 1 January 2027, current CEO Marion Marsland will move into the newly created role of Executive Chair, with strategic responsibility across TICA and its wider activities.

Helen Anderson, currently Deputy CEO and Head of Learning, will become CEO, leading the membership organisation and its work with contractors across the thermal insulation sector.

Marion’s wider remit will include IETTL, TICA’s Ofqual-recognised independent End Point Assessment Organisation for thermal insulation apprenticeships, and TICA Assured, a newly created certification body working towards UKAS accreditation.

The changes follow a period of growth for TICA, which has expanded its training provision and increased its work around skills, competence and industry standards.

This has included raising awareness of the important role thermal insulation plays in decarbonisation, increasing apprentice numbers and encouraging more women to pursue careers in the traditionally male-dominated sector. Enrolments at TICA’s National Training Centre in Darlington have risen from 80 in 2021/22 to a record 199 in 2025/26, alongside investment in additional training capacity.

TICA is also launching Thermal Assured through TICA Assured, providing independent audits to give clients and principal contractors clear evidence of contractors’ technical capability and competence.

Marion said: “TICA has changed and grown considerably and, as the organisation has developed, it makes sense that our leadership structure also evolves. Moving into the newly created role of Executive Chair will allow me to take a wider strategic view across our different activities.”

Helen, who joined TICA as Head of Learning in August 2022 and became Deputy CEO in 2024, said: “It’s a real privilege to become CEO at a time when we have record numbers of apprentices coming through our doors.

“However, the industry still faces a skills gap and attracting more people into the sector and making sure employers have access to a skilled and competent workforce  remain a major priority.”

Marion has more than 40 years’ experience in thermal insulation and has led TICA for 13 years. In December 2025, she was appointed Chair of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Alliance, representing 37 card schemes.

She added: “I’m proud of what TICA has achieved, but it has always been a team effort. We have hugely talented and committed people across the organisation, and this new structure gives us the opportunity to build upon that.”
