Following the publication of the Setting The Bar report, the Final Report of the Competence Steering Group for Building a Safer Future, Dame Judith Hackett has been giving evidence to the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee, as part of the MPs’ work to scrutinise the draft Building Safety Bill.
IOSH have reported on this and the scrutiny of HSE chief executive Sarah Albon and Peter Baker, the HSE’s head of building safety and construction, who gave more details of how the forthcoming regulator would operate. This details how the Construction Industry should learn from the good practice in Petro-Chemical, Oil and Gas sectors where a culture of no-blame self-reporting has developed successfully. The issue of competency stemming from the Raising the Bar report will be fully discussed as part of our upcoming November TICA Regional Meetings.
Dame Judith Hackitt will be joining the Build UK update this Wednesday to present an update on Grenfell. If members have any specific questions there will be the opportunity for us to ask questions and these can be submitted in advance to us.
