Build UK celebrated their 5th AGM with over 110 members at their first virtual AGM.
The meeting included a fascinating Q&A with Nadhim Zahawi, Minister for Business and Industry, and Andrew Stephenson, Minister of State at the Department for Transport, who responded to members’ questions on a range of topics, including future pipeline and procurement, Brexit, the legacy of Grenfell, and upcoming tax changes.
Minister Zahawi also ‘applauded’ the industry and in particular Build UK for its response to the coronavirus pandemic over the last few months, saying:
“Teamwork really is the standout word, and Build UK have had no small part to play in bringing the industry together. I would particularly highlight their impressive, collaborative and fast‐paced work on the Site Operating Procedures, which were adopted by 90% of the construction industry since the first version was published in March. And only this week, Build UK have published the first two factsheets in a series aimed at demonstrating the value of infrastructure to the wider public.”
Graham Warren, ACAD Manager commented “ACAD has been a member of Build UK since it’s creation 5 years ago from the merger of UKCG and NSCC, the latter of which TICA-ACAD was also a member. It gives me great pride to be able to represent members and the wider Asbestos industry in the single voice for UK construction, a unique benefit for ACAD members“.
