Asbestos Training Update
Many ACAD members have continued to be able to access refresher training for their employees including those on the Governments furlough scheme throughout the UK’s response to Covid-19. With refreshers at all levels available every working day since late March, ACAD has led the Asbestos Industry into the new era of remote training delivery.
Like anything new it hasn’t always been plain sailing, whilst the overwhelming majority of delegates have been blown away by the new norm, some have struggled with the technology or experienced sound or video quality issues. Graham Warren, ACAD Manager commented “The technology that we have all started using during Covid-19 has, in the main, been straight forward and accepted by all. Some though have experienced difficulty and it’s important we find a way to ensure the technology of the future is accessible to all so as not to exclude anybody from the new normal of training delivery”.
To help ensure the accessibility of the technology ACAD has introduced a dedicated connection test & familiarisation provision for all delegates booking with ACAD. This free of charge service is accessed prior to the planned training day so delegates can test their system and ask any questions they might have about it.
Graham Warren went on to say “Remote training delivery has been delivered by ACAD and others for a long time but the sudden sharp increase in demand has meant everybody has been on a learning curve during recent times as unforeseen issues arose. Some issues remain to be worked through but given this delivery method is recognised and utilised by awarding organisations in the fields of education & qualifications such as SQA and City & Guilds, alongside UK Governmental organisations including Ofqual & Ofsted, it’s abundantly clear remote training delivery to the Licensed Asbestos industry is here to stay”.
