Apprentice Recruitment 2020/2021
The Chancellor announced on 8 July that there will be an employer incentive of £2000 for employers who hire new apprentices aged under 25 and a £1500 payment for each new apprentice aged 25 and over, from 1 August 2020 to 31 January 2021. This comes at the perfect time for our employers who are considering whether or not to take on new apprentices ready for induction later this year.
The recruitment of thermal insulation apprentices for the 2020/2021 cohort is something that employers should now be considering in readiness for the TICA induction programme. Due to the National Training Centre closing for 3 months during the lockdown period the entire timetable has had to shift which means that instead of inductions commencing in September we are planning on starting inductions in December. Inductions will now be carried out remotely using a digital platform so apprentices will not have to attend the National Training in Darlington to complete the funding and qualification paperwork. This will all be completed by the individual and the employer before the apprentice arrives in Darlington. We have designed the paperwork so that it will accept digital signatures, thus avoiding the need to post paperwork out. Employers and apprentices will be invited to a meeting via the Smart Assessor platform, during the meeting, which will be recorded and could take up to 1 hour, all aspects of the training programme and funding compliance will be agreed by all parties and paperwork signed to confirm this.
If you require assistance with the recruitment of thermal insulation apprentices please contact Liz Munroe here at TICA.
We can post adverts on the TICA website, we have application forms on file that been sent in speculatively that we can share with you and we will post adverts on the government Find an Apprentice websites for Scottish and English apprentices. We will sift the applications and assist with arranging interviews if required.
As announced on 8 July 2020 there is an employer incentive of £2000 for employers who hire new apprentices aged under 25 and a £1500 payment for each apprentice they hire aged 25 and over, from 1 August 2020 to 31 January 2021. These incentives will be in addition to the existing £1000 payment the government already provides for new 16-18 year-old apprentices, and those aged under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan – where that applies.
The process for accessing apprentice funding for English apprentices has changed this year and all employers will need to have a digital account setting up. If you haven’t already done this please contact Louise Peacock by email and she will assist with setting up your account.
